Tree Permit

Removing or injuring a protected tree in the City of Toronto usually needs a permit. We handle the application and coordinate the arborist report it requires. From $2,000.

What a tree permit is

The City of Toronto protects trees under its municipal code. A permit is generally required to remove or injure a private tree above a set trunk size, any city-owned tree, and trees in a ravine or other protected area. Removing a protected tree without a permit can mean significant fines.

Most applications need a supporting arborist report. We confirm which trees on your site are protected, coordinate the arborist, prepare and submit the permit application, and where removal is tied to a development, align it with your broader planning approvals so the two do not work against each other.
